I have a whirlpool dishwasher. It washes fine but leaves about a gallon or two at the bottom that wont drain

Check the filter that is under the lower arm, and the drain discharge hose, either or both may need cleaning. If your dishwasher has a drain button, use that and then check the water level.I have a whirlpool dishwasher. It washes fine but leaves about a gallon or two at the bottom that wont drain
Most dishwashers leave a little water in the bottom to keep the gasket wet. If all the water were to drain out the gasket would dry out and the dishwasher would leak.

Two gallons sounds like a bit much tho. Did it just start doing this or is it a new dishwasher? Your float could be stuck and the dishwasher thinks it's empty. Make sure nothing is blocking it.

Either way I'd call a repair man. At least that way you know for sure!!I have a whirlpool dishwasher. It washes fine but leaves about a gallon or two at the bottom that wont drain
Well, the same thing happened to mine and it turned out to be a plugged drain hose that my 15 year old son and I unplugged with a chopstick. The two of us cheated some poor plumber or repairman out of $100.00.
time too call your local repair man.
