The better dryers have a system to change the rotational direction at intervals. This lets the washing fall to the bottom of the dryer and thus turns it over. This speeds up the drying process. If the drum rotated in the same direction all the time the washing would stay in the same place and not dry so effectively.My whirlpool awz650 condenser dryer keeps starting and stopping like a washing machine does is this ok drys ok?
yeah it's totally normal, is just the drum changing from a clockwise to an anti-clockwise spin and vise versa.
Mine does this too and it's fine i think it is the drum changing direction

you will probably find it is changing direction so the clothes dont tangle.
