I had the same problem years ago once it was the belt and second time it was the timer if you don't have an extended warranty on it 10 years for an appliance frequently used is the limit so I was told , to repair it it will cost you a few hundreds so you decide if you should get a new one or not !Whirlpool washing machine...won';t spin...try with lid open...agitator problem?
the washer wont spin with the lid open in saying that take a popsicle stick and push down on the lid switch you should hear a click and the washer will spin if not replace the lid switch. also if the lid is down and the motor is running and its not spinning the motor coupling is bad
If it is the belt or timing, you can go to sears to let them know. Sometimes there is a knowlegable person that can help.
